Bio
Laurent J. Chanez grew up in Eastern France and studied graphic design, illustration, and photography at Paris’s Ecole Superieur d’art Graphique.
After graduating he moved to LA and started working as an art director and graphic designer, but found out that he really wanted to direct. Within a few years, he began directing commercials and has become a prolific and internationally acclaimed director.
Working for both the European and American markets, he has won several awards for his Tommy Hilfiger Fragrances "True Star" featuring Beyonce Knowles and "Flower by Kenzo" commercial. His work for the Benetton “Unhate” campaign was featured at 2012 TED Conference.
Utilizing a multi-faceted approach, Laurent defies categorization and taps his experience on the imagery and aesthetic for clients as diverse as Nike, Mastercard, Gucci, Nintendo, L’Oreal, Benetton, Hyundai, Orange, Volkswagen and Lexus.
Laurent divides his time between Paris and New York and continues to develop his evocative visual style through commercials and other film mediums such as documentaries, music videos and art projects.
